Red Tail Hawk Restaurant

Red Tail Hawk Restaurant, Later PV Martins.

Back in the 70’s this restaurant was built across from the trailer park, south on A1A at country line. I remember it well. It had a piano bar on top with just enough room for the piano and a few (8) stools around it. The stairs going up to the Piano room were very steep. I actually caught a woman falling down as I was going up. I was no hero, I had no choice, she was heading straight for me, and not in a good way. Fortunately, no one was hurt. She and her husband later paid our entire dinner tab for 6 people.

Our Fort Pierce radio stations did advertising for the Red Tail Hawk. We had a contest to guess what time Our Sailboat would arrive in Washington DC for the 1976 celebration july 4th. There was one hitch, at the rate we were going it may have been Labor day before we would get there. I sent a truck and trailer to North Carolina to collect the boat and drive it to the Potomac. Our sailboat arrived in the DC area around 2:30 in the afternoon on the 4th of july. Great contest invented by Ron Nickell the station manager at the time. Lot’s of Fun that weekend! RIP Ron!
